Who we are
The Albanian Conservative Institute (ACI) is a center-right, conservative think tank in Albania, cofounded by Nikola Kedhi, Ted Kopliku, Enri Ceno, Lindita Komani, Gent Trenova.
We are starting something fresh and new, reflecting a deeper commitment to solidifying and strengthening conservative values in Albania, with a group of young professionals, bringing together some of the best intellectuals the country has. Our aim is to build a serious institution, with integrity and vision that will serve as a point of reference for the center - right in Albania and the Balkans for decades to come.
We are here to fiercely protect the legacy of the center-right and strengthen its foundations for the next decades.
Our Mission and Vision
ACI’s mission is to fortify the center-right and conservative movement in Albania by advocating for democratic governance, national security, and economic prosperity. We seek to inspire a renewed focus on the values of free markets, individual liberties, limited government, and the sanctity of private property and family. With the ever-growing challenges facing our nation and region, from stabilocracy to foreign geopolitical influence, ACI is focused on promoting policies that not only defend Albania’s interests but also cultivate a resilient and prosperous society rooted in traditional values and national pride.
We are committed to educating the next generation of leaders, offering sound policy solutions from economic policy, to national security and international relations, education, healthcare, jurisprudence and good governance, and driving change through research, advocacy, and engagement with both local and international partners.
ACI aims to counter adversarial external influences and advance Albania’s rightful place in a strong Europe, with robust alliances with the United States and the United Kingdom, alongside other Western democracies.
Why We Founded the ACI
Our team successfully held some of the biggest events Albania has ever seen. In Spring 2024, many of us were the brains behind the 15th anniversary of NATO event, with the participation of former Ministers of foreign affairs and of defense from both political sides, Members of Parliament, diplomats and security experts. We were honored with the virtual discussions of General Jim Jones, Nato deputy secretary general H.E. Mircea Geona, General David Petraeus (CIA Director, 2011-2012), Congressman Robert Aderholt, General Wesley Clark, Admiral Giampaolo Di Paula, Franz Josef Jung, etc.
The event was followed by the Forum on the Future of Albania, that brought together for the first time in Albania, the Heritage Foundation, Nazione Futura, Center for Fundamental Rights and the Ordo Iuris Institute, with greetings from His Emminence Cardinal Ernest Simoni Troshani, Member of the European Parliament, Carlo Fidanza, and the former Director of International Relations of the Conservative Party of the United Kingdom, Philippa Broom. Many of us have had successful collaborations with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and George C. Marshall Center.
The decision to unite and create the Albanian Conservative Institute reflects the evolving demands of our nation and the need for a stronger, more focused platform that embodies the core principles of conservatism. We aim to become the go-to conservative institution in the region. Albania’s current challenges, such as depopulation, economic stagnation, and political instability, require a firm, unapologetic stance. ACI emerges from this need, concentrating our efforts on restoring and amplifying center-right values, offering a new beginning for the conservative movement in Albania, and a trustworthy, serious partner in the region.
The ACI signifies our more determined focus: we are proud of the work we have done in the last years, and the leadership we have provided, but we also recognize the need for greater unity and clarity in promoting our principles. With ACI, we are poised to be the primary force in shaping Albania’s future through policies that prioritize the family, uphold tradition, strengthen the nation’s sovereignty, and protect the rule of law.
